final REFLECTION

My language belief is about knowing where slang comes from if you're going to use it. It's about being sure of what you say. (Say what you mean and mean what you say.) With the summary of the report my belief is only stronger. It showed that some people don't know about the way they speak; they know its slang, but they don't know how they started speaking it. They don't understand the origin, the importance, the definition, and the truth. For those who know where they get their slang, it only makes them stronger. They know of their roots which means they'll be able to leave home with an open-mind. They won't forget where they come from so they won't lose sight of where they're going. I found deeper meaning in easier questions.

testing the talkers

first reflection : When it comes to
"slanguage", do you ever ask yourself where you got it from? Words are recycled all of the time, meaning a word from the past being reused in the present, so it makes sense to ask.
In an article about the history of slang, it was said that "Slang arises in opposition to formal speech". I asked people if they agreed and these were the results. Then, I asked who used slang around them, do they use some of the slang from whoever used it around them, and if any of their beliefs reflect those of that person.

My Research Goals

RESEARCH QUESTION:
What is slang's effect on life? What is the pattern of slang?
RESEARCH PLAN:
I plan to find out a few thoughts from the elderly. They lived by tradition, they were raised by tradition, and some of them raised their own by tradition. Then I'll survey those raised by the elderly and lastly the new generation, teenagers who are being raised by tradition and some who aren't. Then I'll give a survey on slang and where it's from.
RESEARCH GOAL:
I need to know more about:
  • thoughts from different generations
  • beliefs about tradition and routine
  • an article about cliche sayings against the expression of teens

...bEcAuSe tHeY sAiD sO...

Growing up, children didn't have much voice. However, the bible says that out of the babes mouth comes the truth. Now i don't know what you believe, but I'd consider this. Children are the next generation, the future, the people of tomorrow, and I believe that if you don't give them a say you're suppressing their thoughts, discouraging their beliefs, and keeping them quiet. I believe that language is formed by experience and the way you're nurtured and raised. What good does speaking when only spoken to do for us? Absolutely none.
Another effect on language is obedience. As much as children have rebelled the language grew harsh or had emphasis. Some may argue that obedience makes language meek and soft, submissive and weak. Regardless of how it affects language, it does.
